Lost pet search

Thermal drone search for missing pets in Ontario.

When a dog or pet is missing, precise facts and a systematic search matter. We assess the last confirmed location, terrain, weather, airspace, and timing before recommending a flight.

How it helps

More ground covered with a clear search plan.

A thermal camera detects temperature differences on visible surfaces. From the air, it can help identify and prioritize heat signatures across fields, trails, bush edges, rural properties, and other searchable terrain.

What happens before a flight

We start with the exact last confirmed location and time, direction of travel, later sightings, a current photo, temperament, and property-access information. We then assess whether an aerial search is likely to add useful information.

What thermal can—and cannot—do

Thermal works in many environments, but cooler conditions, open terrain, and a recent sighting generally improve detection. It cannot see through roofs, solid objects, or dense canopy, and it cannot guarantee a recovery.

What to do right now

  • Keep one reliable record of every confirmed sighting.
  • Avoid sending large groups into the area if the animal is frightened.
  • Have a current photo and exact map pin ready.
  • Confirm permission for any private property that may need to be searched.
